A Career Built on Resilience, Perseverance and Excellence

A Career Shaped by Resilience

Dr. Laurent Benadiba's journey began with adversity. The sudden death of his father during his final year of high school forced him to abandon his initial plans to enter medical school. Instead, he devoted an entire year to supporting his devastated mother and caring for his three younger siblings. After exploring other paths—including real estate and later taking over the family's small business—he ultimately returned to medicine, carrying not only his own ambitions but also the dream of his late father.

Returning to academic life proved demanding. He had to make up for months away from intellectual work and revisit subjects he had not studied since high school. He narrowly failed the highly competitive first-year medical entrance examination on his first attempt, repeated the year, and worked with even greater determination—eventually ranking 10th in his class in one of France's most selective medical competitions.

An Outstanding Training in Plastic Surgery

The remainder of his medical education progressed without interruption: no failed examinations, no resits. He approached the national residency entrance examination with the same discipline and rigor, determined to pursue a surgical specialty. Already married at the time, he needed a sufficiently high ranking to remain and train in Paris—an objective he successfully achieved. His eldest daughter was born just three months after the start of his residency.

Initially specializing in ENT and maxillofacial surgery, he soon realized that this path was leading him away from his true vocation: plastic surgery. With the support of Professor Servant, he exercised his "right to reconsider" and transferred into the plastic surgery training program. He completed his education in some of the finest hospitals and surgical departments in Paris and its surrounding region, notably under Dr. Jean-Marie Faivre, a leading authority in aesthetic surgery and son of Jacques Faivre, founder of the French Society of Aesthetic Surgery.

It was also at the beginning of his residency that he met Dr. Béatrice Lafarge-Claoué, heir to the Claoué family legacy. Her grandfather was one of the pioneers of aesthetic surgery in Paris, so influential that several surgical instruments still bear his name today. Under the guidance of these two remarkable mentors, Dr. Benadiba received an exceptional education in aesthetic surgery.

A Landmark Thesis on Breast Implants

A pivotal encounter with Dr. Sylvain Petoin, a specialist in breast reconstruction surgery, would further shape his career. Under Dr. Petoin's supervision, Dr. Benadiba devoted his doctoral thesis to the analysis of more than 900 cases of long-term breast implant complications.

This extensive 250-page research project earned him an award from the French National Academy of Surgery in 2019. It was later selected by the French Cancer League for publication as a special educational guide for patients, with more than 250,000 copies distributed nationwide.

To this day, Drs. Faivre, Lafarge-Claoué, and Petoin remain his three principal mentors—the individuals who most profoundly influenced his approach to plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgery.

Establishing a Private Practice in Paris

In 2001, Dr. Benadiba established his private practice at Clinique Alphand, the oldest aesthetic surgery clinic in Paris. The clinic was directed by Dr. Béatrice Lafarge-Claoué and had originally been founded by her grandfather, one of the pioneers of aesthetic surgery in France during the 1950s.

At the same time, he developed a significant reconstructive surgery practice at the Private Hospital of Champigny.

A Pioneer of Intimate Surgery in France

In 2004, while intimate surgery was already well established in the United States but remained virtually unknown in France, a fellow physician asked him to perform a labiaplasty. Realizing that no French surgeon was then offering this procedure, he undertook extensive research and training, becoming one of the pioneers of intimate surgery in France.

This early commitment to the field led him, in 2013, to create the first university diploma dedicated to intimate medicine and surgery (DUMEG) at the Faculty of Medicine of Créteil.

Aesthetic Medicine and Medical Education

In the early 2000s, through his collaboration with Dr. Lafarge-Claoué at Clinique Alphand, Dr. Benadiba became involved in the emerging field of aesthetic medicine, particularly in the use of Botox®—at a time when it had not yet received approval for aesthetic indications in France.

Aesthetic medicine would become one of the cornerstones of his practice. In 2010, he founded the DUTIC program at the Faculty of Medicine of Créteil, a postgraduate diploma that he directed for more than twelve years, training numerous physicians in advanced aesthetic medicine techniques.

His passion for teaching extended far beyond France. Between 2012 and 2013, he served as a medical consultant for six months in the creation of an aesthetic medical center in Hanoi, Vietnam. He subsequently became a trainer and speaker for various international laboratories and institutions in Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Israel, Brazil, Switzerland, Dubai, and throughout France.

A New Chapter in Geneva

In 2017, a former student, Dr. Sophie Menkes, invited him to join her in Geneva to develop a practice focused on intimate medicine and surgery. He accepted the challenge and began practicing regularly in Switzerland over the following years.

In 2023, he made the decision to settle permanently in Geneva, where he now continues to expand his practice, particularly in the fields of regenerative medicine and regenerative surgery. He currently works at Clinique Vert-Pré, one of Geneva's most prestigious and highly regarded private clinics.
